How to learn English with TV shows and movies
Learning grammar is boring, but watching TV is fun.
Watching TV in English can be useful, but may not feel that effective and can be hard to understand without subtitles.
So what’s the best way to learn English while watching TV shows and not waste time?
Without subtitles, watch a short clip from the TV show or movie. Watching a short clip makes it easier for you to remember what happens and what words are used than if you watched the whole episode or movie.
Then ask yourself, what is happening in the scene?
Try to answer this question even if you don’t understand what happened by looking at visual cues.
Then ask yourself, what’s the key vocabulary in the scene? You can write down these words and find their meaning.
Then rewatch the scene. Do this as many times as you want with different clips.
On our website we have clips from some of the best and most popular TV shows and movies for you to learn English with.
We explain all the key vocabulary, phrases and jokes to help you understand the scene while learning something new.
